At the Pennsylvania Educator Diversity Consortium (PEDC), we believe that every student deserves a fair and supportive education. That starts with having teachers from different backgrounds and making sure classrooms include and celebrate every student’s identity.
We work with people, schools, and communities across Pennsylvania to change both the rules and the everyday practices that shape learning—so all students can do well in school and in life.
We bring together people from schools, colleges, families, and communities. That kind of teamwork is one of the things that makes PEDC unique.
We listen to and lift up the voices of teachers and students.
We focus on healing and wellness, because strong communities start with care and connection.
We share tools, research, and real stories to inspire change.
We support people and groups across Pennsylvania—and beyond—who are working for equity in education.
At PEDC, we believe that real change happens when we do three things:
This approach helps build strong, fair schools where all students can succeed.
We want more teachers of color in Pennsylvania schools. We work to attract, support, and keep diverse educators—from early interest in teaching through college and into long-term careers. When students see teachers who look like them or understand their culture, they feel more supported—and everyone benefits.
We help schools and teachers use CRSE practices that make students feel seen, valued, and respected. This means including different cultures, voices, and ways of learning in the classroom. It helps students feel like they belong—and helps them succeed.

We bring people together to speak up for better education policies across Pennsylvania. We work with leaders, lawmakers, and communities to change the rules so that equity isn’t just a goal—it’s something we make happen.
EXPLORE POLICY & ADVOCACY: See how we work to change education laws and bring people together for equity.
Whether you’re an educator, student, parent, policymaker, or advocate—you have a role to play in advancing equity in education. Together, we can create an education system that serves and uplifts every learner.
